Dear SHS Class of 1967,

 

As fellow 1967 SHS class alumni, we hope you will join us in supporting the Sunnyside High School Alumni Scholarship fund, while leaving a legacy on behalf of the Class of 1967.

To further our effort and to give direct credit to our class, a special scholarship has been created that will be granted to a deserving graduate annually, starting with the class of 2024. The Class of 1967 Memorial scholarship will initially be $2,500. The Alumni board will select the recipient as they do for all the scholarships. To fund the scholarship a special separate endowment account has been established that will accept donations from class of ’67 alumni or anyone who wishes to donate. The new fund currently has $3,000 in recent 2023 donations from our class. The goal is to raise sufficient principle to fund the scholarship in perpetuity. At current rates, we would have to raise $45K - $55K to fund a $2,500 dollar annual scholarship. While the endowment is growing, we will directly fund the scholarship with the first donations received each year. Once the $2,500 is raised all subsequent donations will be deposited in the class of 1967 endowment account. Earnings on this account will fund future scholarships. Either way, all donations are tax deductible. Please contact the committee with any questions.
