Goal Oriented Aniyah Martinez Awarded a SHS Alumni Endowment Scholarship for 2024

Ancient Greek philosopher and polymath Aristotle once said, "Life is only meaningful when we are striving for a goal ". Meet Goal Oriented and 2024 SHS Graduate and Alumni Endowment Scholarship Recipient Aniyah Martinez!

Aniyah is the daughter of Amy and Adrian Martinez and oldest of three children. She recognized them for their loving support.

Aniyah recognized and thanked SHS Chemistry Teacher Jessica Torres, who not only provided outstanding instruction but help her navigate towards success in high school.

At SHS she earned a 3.62 GPA, was a 4 year member of the Cheer Squad and was chosen Cheer Captain her senior year. She also was a Varsity Track letter winner.

The selection committee was quite impressed with her application and her confidence for future success. She wrote: "Growing up, I've always been driven to achieve my goals, whether in academics or extracurricular activities like cheer, dance,

pep club, and community service. My aspirations included excelling as a student-athlete, maintaining good grades, and having a positive outlook. I worked hard to become a cheerleader, a competitive dancer, a dedicated student, and excel in my classes at YVC. While I faced setbacks and failures, they taught me that success often requires overcoming life's challenges."

Aniyah has a clear vision of her post-high school goals. She plans to complete her prerequisites at YVCC and transfer to Bellevue College to become an Ultrasound Technician. As for life goals she wants to be able to help make a positive impact on others and continue to learn new skills and ideas. She envisions eventually owning a home, driving her dream car, and starting a family. She's appreciative of what she has and recognizes the immense support and sacrifices her parents have made to facilitate her education and upbringing.

Congratulations Aniyah , wishing you all the best and a "Meaningful Life"!

Alumni Fund Vice President Hank Stamshror presents Aniyah with a $3,000 ceremonious "Big Check"
