WSU Bound Kaiden Frank Awarded Tanasse Family Scholarship

Kaiden Frank has been selected as the Tanasse Family Scholarship $2500.00 recipient for 2024.  Kaiden is the son of Brian and Kimberly Frank, both SHS grads, as are older siblings brother Trajen (Class of 2015) and sister Jenessa (Class of 2019).

Kaiden, a 4.0 student and co-valedictorian, 

was very involved in athletics,  National Honor Society, Music Honor Society, Science, Travel, and Math Club.  He also served his community by volunteering in the Miss Sunnyside Program, participating in marching band, and working with students at Chief Kamiakin  Elementary School.


Kaiden has been accepted into Washington State University's Honors College, majoring in chemistry, with the goal of becoming a chemical engineer.  He would like to complete the nuclear reactor program at WSU, getting hands-on experience.  After obtaining a master's degree, Kaiden would like to participate in cancer research. Alternatively, Kaiden is passionate about advancing research in nuclear power to develop cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.


In his application materials Kaiden stated, "I believe I am a strong candidate due to my academic background, dedication to growth, and perseverance."

He gives his parents credit for instilling in him the drive to do his best, giving back to the community, and making a positive impact in the world. He also thanked a couple of his favorite teachers at Sunnyside High School including calculus teacher Mr. LaBrant and chemistry instructor Mr. Miller.


About The Tanasse Family Scholarship

SHS Alumni Vice President Henry Stamschror presents the ceremonious "Big Check" to Kaiden Frank.

This scholarship is given by the Tanasse Family in honor of their father and grandfather, Arthur “Bud” Tanasse. Bud graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He established 2 businesses in Sunnyside, The Tanasse Paramount Equipment Company, which manufactured and serviced agriculture equipment, such as, mint stills and hop dryers. In the 60’s he invented a smokeless orchard heater, which gave rise to his other business “Spot Heaters”. Spot Heaters were smokeless orchard heaters. He had several patents on his products. The recipient must be attending WSU and show an interest in engineering, farming, and/or agriculture technology with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
